the testes sit outside the body because sperm production runs best a few degrees below core temperature. sauna heat pushes past that, round after round. a 2013 study in Human Reproduction followed ten healthy men through three months of regular sauna use and found a significant drop in sperm count and motility, which recovered once they stopped.
the usual fix: a frozen gel pack down your shorts, melted by round two or left in the freezer. we built a better way: put it on, walk in, stop thinking about it.

- do i need to ice my balls in the sauna?
- not with ö-zone. the old trick is a messy frozen gel pack shoved down your shorts, and it's melted long before your third round. ö-zone's patent-pending tech holds a steady 20–25°c against the groin with nothing to freeze beforehand.
- can the heat in a sauna affect male fertility?
- the testes sit outside the body because healthy sperm production needs a temperature a few degrees below core body heat. prolonged heat exposure, like repeated sauna rounds, is a well-known risk factor for temporarily lowering sperm count and motility. ö-zone is designed to guard against exactly that.
- how does ö-zone stay cool without ice?
- patent-pending cooling technology built into the garment itself maintains the 20–25°c micro-climate on its own: no pre-freezing, no cooler bag, no topping up between rounds.
- what is ö-zone made from?
- the waistband and straps are organic cotton and rubber. the inside layer against your skin and the outer layer are both organic cotton too. every part that touches your skin is non-toxic and sauna safe.
- does it still work after multiple rounds of sauna and plunge?
- yes. unlike an ice pack, which melts and warms up, ö-zone holds its temperature round after round, however many times you go from sauna to plunge and back.
- what's the best way to keep your balls cool in the sauna?
- until now, an ice pack or frozen gel pack, replaced every session. ö-zone is designed to do the job automatically, holding 20–25°c for as long as you're in the heat, with nothing to freeze beforehand.
- is it bad to put ice directly on your balls in the sauna?
- direct, prolonged contact with ice against bare skin can cause discomfort and minor cold-related irritation, which is exactly why the trick has never been a great one. ö-zone is worn like a normal garment and holds a much gentler 20–25°c rather than freezing cold.
- can you wear a jockstrap in the sauna?
- yes, that's exactly what ö-zone is: a jockstrap-style garment built specifically for sauna use, with patent-pending cooling tech built into the pouch instead of an ice pack.
